Chicago’s Midway Airport Announces Two New Amenities
Whether you’re traveling for work or leisure you’re likely busy, stressed and in need of some TLC. And if you’re a mom you know it can be tough to find accommodations to comfortably take care of your baby. Well the Chicago Department of Aviation announced earlier this month that two new amenities for travelers have opened at Midway International Airport – a Yoga Room and a Mother’s Room. Both are conveniently located on Concourse C.
The Yoga Room (pictured below) will provide a space for yoga practice, relaxation and meditation – all things any harried traveler could really use to regroup and relax on a long layover. The Mother’s Room will have private spaces for nursing or pumping while traveling with infants. The yoga room features a sustainable bamboo floor, floor to ceiling mirrors, exercise mats and an area to place personal articles and garments. Frosted windows on one side of the room let natural light in while providing some privacy from the adjacent public spaces and busy travelers going by. There is a wall-mounted video monitor in the room that displays yoga exercises and imagery of nature as well as plays soothing sounds.
The CDA also pointed out that new sustainable elements were incorporated into the design of these new spaces including LED lighting and eco-friendly paint was used.
The new Yoga Room has been open to travelers since December 2013 and the Mother’s Room opened in early September 2014. Look for them on your next trip through Midway airport – it may just be your most relaxing layover ever!
