airport spa A little pampering goes a long way when it comes to improving your travel outlook and appearance. Barbershops, spas and salons at an ever-increasing number of airports offer services that range from haircuts, shampoos and shaves to facials, pedicures, manicures and massages at prices generally on par with what you pay for these services in town.

Business and leisure travelers now have something else to look forward to when they fly into Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. The Airport Council International recently recognized Terminal Getaway Spa as the Best New Consumer Service Concept at Chicago O’Hare International Airport in honor of airports providing superior concessions to meet the needs of the traveling public.

So whether you’re in from a red eye overseas or just stopping through on your next adventure, you can expect a great spa experience at a reasonable price right here at Chicago’s ORD!  Terminal Gateway Spa promises “rejuvenating travelers at a luxury spa in the airport with signature spa treatments and tailored spa experiences will help you get your trip off to the right start.” They offers 45/60/90-minute full-body massages, an array of nail services, and facial and waxing treatments for those who have time for an extended escape. The spa also offers “Last-Minute” manicures ($25 done in just 20-minutes), the massage chair for a speedy 10-minute rubdown ($19) and “Jet-Lag” foot massages (20-minutes for $45) for your longer layovers.  According to their website, “Terminal Getaway Spa is built through the expertise of well-traveled individuals with experience working in and visiting some of the best spas in the world.” Read more on their pricing and services here.

And according to Spa Review Magazine, online Terminal Getaway Spa is the premier airport relaxation station.  It is recognized for revolutionizing airport spas and improving the travel experience by offering private treatment rooms, on-trend services, mainstay hospitality and extensively trained licensed technicians – without the price tag of a luxe resort or hotel.

There are currently 5 locations in Chicago O’Hare, Charlotte Douglas and Orlando International Airport.

The rapidly growing airport spa brand is the brainchild of Chicago-based entrepreneur Marko Iglendza, who geared the spas toward travelers in a hurry–or not with treatments ranging from 10 to 90 minutes.

Another airport spa to look into is XpresSpa, with branches in about 50 airports worldwide. They have a free membership program that gives discounts and special offers and $5 in rewards points for each $100 you spend. And between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Terminal Gateway Spa, with branches at Chicago O’Hare, Charlotte Douglas and Orlando International Airport, will be giving away treatments via Twitter.

If you’re a frequent flier maybe a gift certificate is something to ask Santa for!
